In the early 1900’s, Ryan’s Great-Grandparents Charlie and Peroda Fulton homesteaded north of town near the Elkhead Schoolhouse. In 1934 they purchased this ranch closer to town in pursuit of a better education for their 5 children. One of their sons, Chuck Fulton, bought the Ranch from Charlie and Peroda in 1946 when he came home from World War II. Chuck Fulton remained on the ranch, feeding cows and sheep with his draft horse team up to the end.
Chuck’s daughter, Rebecca, and her husband, Terry Wattles, moved to the ranch after retiring and haven’t skipped a beat. You can’t miss Grampy (Terry) around the ranch with his suspenders and beard, always finding more work than the day is long. Mimi (Rebecca) is often out in the garden, playing with the grandkids, or volunteering her time for others.
